Abstract

Shrimp aquaculture is essential to the world's seafood output, bacterial infections, especially those brought on by Vibrio species, have a serious negative impact on the industry. High mortality, stunted growth, decreased feed efficiency, and significant financial losses are the outcomes of these illnesses. Antimicrobial-resistant (AMR) bacteria have emerged as a result of widespread antibiotic use, which has decreased treatment efficacy and raised issues with food and environmental safety. In order to promote sustainable shrimp aquaculture, this review addresses the economic significance of bacterial diseases, the emergence and effects of antimicrobial resistance in Vibrio species, and sustainable disease management strategies like biosecurity, probiotics, bacteriophage therapy, and responsible antibiotic use.
